Short Term course on "Seismic Design of Steel Structures"

Date: 21st October to 25th October, 2019

Visiting Faculty: Prof. Taichiro Okazaki, Department of Architectural and Structural Design, Hokkaido University, Japan

Host Faculty: Dr. Dipti Ranjan Sahoo, IIT Delhi & Dr. P. C. Ashwin Kumar, IIT Roorkee

This course shall cover the fundamental concepts of seismic design of steel structures, ranging from various types of lateral force-resisting systems, earthquake performance of these systems to the advanced design philosophy and detailing techniques. Participants shall get an opportunity to get hands-on experience by using standard computer software for modelling, analysis and data interpretation. The recent advances in steel structures shall be covered.read more

Short Term course on "Transportation Systems: Dynamics and Control for Traffic, Vehicles, and Pedestrians"

Date: 02nd December to 13th December 2019

Visiting Faculty: Prof. Pushkin Kachroo

Host Faculty: Prof. G. Tiwari & Prof. K. Ramachandra Rao

Transportation is the backbone for the economic and financial well-being of any society. Hence, it is essential that the transportation system that involves mobility for goods and people be highly efficient and robust. The two main aspects of transportation are throughput and safety. Throughput measures the quantitative aspect of the efficiency of the system, while safety is related to the qualitative aspect...........read more

Short Term course on "Atomistic Simulations of Materials"

Date: 23rd December to 27th December 2019

Visiting Faculty: Prof. Srivilliputhur

Host Faculty: Dr. Rajesh Prasad

Materials science involves disparate length and time scales spanning Angstroms to meters and femtoseconds to years depending on the problem of interest. The instructor proposes an intensive twenty-hour course on computational materials science involving lectures and hands-on tutorials in atomistic simulations incorporating semi-empirical potentials. Computers will be needed for tutorials only and will be provided by the host institution (IIT-Delhi) with computational software pre-installed..........read more
