Programme Overview

This course offers a comprehensive introduction to the principles and applications of quantum computing and quantum information. Designed with an emphasis on both theoretical concepts and practical skills, the course guides participants from classical computing basics to the core ideas of quantum mechanics that underpin quantum technologies—such as superposition, entanglement, and interference. By exploring quantum gates, circuits, and key concepts in quantum cryptography, participants will build a strong foundation in this rapidly evolving field. The course also includes an intuitive understanding of quantum algorithms and their real-world implications. What sets this course apart is its strong hands-on component. Participants will simulate and construct quantum circuits using IBM's Qiskit and QuTiP libraries via Google Colab. Simple physical models like coin-toss experiments will be used to demonstrate fundamental protocols like BB84. In addition to lectures, the course features guided tutorials and coding exercises to help learners build fluency in quantum programming. Whether you're a student, educator, or professional researcher, this course will equip you with both the theoretical understanding and practical tools needed to begin working in quantum computing.
